This is one of the smaller honeyeaters, and often travels in flocks with the similar Brown-headed Honeyeater. The White-naped Honeyeater has beautiful, bright colours and an obvious white nape-stripe. Its diet consists of nectar from varying flowers, supplemented by insects.

They nest from July to December, breeding once or twice during this time. The nest is a delicate hanging cup of fine plant material and spiders webs, slung from a forking branch. Here they lay two or three shiny buff-pink eggs with sparse red-brown spots.
